  • Responsible Negotations

 

Alain Lempereur is an external expert at the School of Transnational Governance. He is the Alan B. Slifka Chair Professor and Director of the Conflict Resolution and Coexistence Program at Brandeis University, and an affiliate faculty of the Harvard Program on Negotiation (PON) and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative.

He published a dozen books, including The First Move. A Negotiator’s Companion, available in 14 languages. Since 1995 in over 60 countries, Alain Lempereur has consulted for international organisations, national governments, global consulting firms or corporations. He launched capacity-building organisations, like Co-Dev. He established the negotiation training programs at the European Commission, the College of Europe and ENA; he founded the European negotiation institute “Irene” and the Essec Negotiation and Mediation Chair Professorship.

Prof. Lempereur initiated the Negotiators of the World peace programmes in Burundi and the DR Congo. He belonged to the UN mediators' network, facilitated meetings for the International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding, and supports Israeli and Palestinian leaders through the PON Negotiation Strategies Institute and Forward Thinking.

Alain Lempereur was a visiting faculty at Harvard, Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs, the UN University for Peace. He graduated from Brussels and Harvard Universities. His field expertise and current research promote responsible negotiation and leadership, as well as humanitarian negotiation.
