The EU Transformation Map reflects need for transnational governance responses to COVID-19.
In the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) framework of content partnerships, STG Director Alexander Stubb, Executive Director Fabrizio Tassinari, Director of Executive Education George Papaconstantinou and Teaching Associate Jonas Brendebach curated an interactive Transformation Map of the European Union.
It outlines eight key issues for the EU in the next twelve months, which are deeply shaped by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The map reflects the need for innovative and transnational government-led policy measures in the months ahead.
Transformation Maps are a cutting-edge digital knowledge tool developed by the WEF, which are hosted on its Strategic Intelligence Platform. The Transformation Maps convey a systemic understanding of global issues and show how they are connected. Each map illustrates the key trends that drive issues like Climate Change, Global Health, 5G, Trade or Mobility. It links these trends to issues displayed in other maps and creates a web of interconnections that allows to understand, contextualize and anticipate global transformations.
The WEF invites leading universities, think tanks and international organisations to curate and periodically update the content, while machine learning and artificial intelligence enrich the maps with relevant data, publications and visuals.
