In the occasion of their 2nd meeting, the board members visited Palazzo Buontalenti, the School's new premises in downtown Florence.
2020 kicked off with a meeting of the STG External Advisory Board. The board was established by the European University Institute’s (EUI) High Council in December 2018 to support the strategic development of the school and consists of 16 members chaired by Mario Monti, President of Bocconi University and Senator for life of the Italian Republic.
The first part of the meeting at the European University Institute’s Badia Fiesolana provided a platform for discussions on the advancements of the STG’s activities and its strategic development, especially in view of the launch of its Master of Arts Programme in Transnational Governance in September 2020.
In the afternoon, a change of scenery led the board members to the Florence city centre. They got a sneak preview of Palazzo Buontalenti, the new premises of the School, which is currently under renovation and most recently hosted the Florence court of appeal.
From the next academic year onwards, the 16th century Palazzo will welcome students and staff in its training and seminar rooms, student accommodation and administrative offices.
The EUI Real Estate and Facilities Service showed board members around the spacious buildings, highlighting its remarkable architecture and history. Palazzo Buontalenti’s very own “renaissance” points to a promising future of learning and exchange at the School of Transnational Governance at the heart of Florence.
